Quite a nice little find. Their Burrito Mexicano is a great. Chicken, Carne Asada and Carnitas. Prices are comparable for other Mexican places in the area, and on Metro Parkway/Big Beaver, probably a bargain.
If I could give El Patio 0 stars, I would. Last week I visited this restaurant for dinner with three others. We were not too hungry so we figured we would order two entrees and split them. Upon doing so, the waiter seemed very annoyed that we only ordered two things. Regardless, he brought out our order and placed the $7 quesadilla which was simply a 5 inch tortilla filled with cheese folded in half and shredded lettuce described as "guacamole salad". He also brought out our nachos, which once we ate the few chips on the top layer the rest of the plate was a waste because of the soggy chips immersed in an unknown liquid. Needless to say we stopped eating both 'entrees'. He came back to check on us after a while and we were still hungry, so I asked for another basket of tortilla chips to eat with the salsa because as I told him, the nachos are inedible because of the soggy-ness. He was angry I told him that we did not like our order and told me that this is how they made them and we cannot get another free basket of tortillas because we had only ordered 2 entrees. Nevertheless I will never go back to this restaurant and I advise you to steer clear unless you want subpar Mexican food and to deal with a rude waitstaff.
I'll break this in two parts- food & service
Personally I really like the food. I come with my family and extended family (all vegetarian) and a majority of my family enjoys the food/flavor/taste.
The service it worthy of a 1 star. Like I said we are vegetarian. While they are accommodative of us, they are incredibly rude. They are pushy to get the order in, don't show "service with a smile" have an attitude when confirming our order, and do not appear as if they appreciate our business.
El patio management- if you are reading this review, you are 70% of the way to being our go-to restaurant in Troy. Show a little appreciation for your customers, and you can make this an all star establishment.
My favorite Mexican Restaurant to eat at. Have been going here for a few years, even when it was under construction, it couldn't stop me. I order the bean and beef nacho without tomatoes and ask for shredded lettuce and a few extra cups of their delicious salsa. The staff is super friendly and attentive. When I would go out to eat here with my sister the waiter would always fill our waters and say "more tequila" jokingly, as he knew we were underage at the time, he was always making us laugh. My boyfriend orders The Special Dinner, I can't believe how much it comes with for the price. It's delicious, filling, and their dinner's are always large. I order takeout here too when I don't have the time to dine-in. Love this place, don't know what I'd do without it.
